My MIL's Stripy Wooly Socks and Ramblings

With all the day dreaming I find myself slipping into here and there thinking about spring. I need to remember to savor the now. I know that in the next week or two it will be the beginning of starting seeds on the plant table. Which means in the next couple of months we will start prepping the garden to be planted and it will be full speed ahead from there till New Years again. So, I need to remember to savor this time of quiet days sitting and stitching and planning.

It also shows me I need to get a move on certain projects I wanted to get done this winter. I better get them started and finished in proper time. I really want to clean out what will be our future bathroom. Ohh for those who have known me for the last few years...well yes things have crept back into that room. I need to just get it all out and not allow anything other than what is needed for the future bathroom back in there. I think I will get started on this mammoth of a project a week from today. I will have to block out my Saturday for that alone. Maybe a pre-made frozen dinner is a good idea or a crock pot dinner. I think I will have to get hubby to get me a kitchen timer this week so I can set intervals of work and rest periods. Then what ever doesn't get done that day I will set a goal of 15-30 minutes each day till it is done.

Do you have any mammoth projects that are calling your name this winter?

Well, some projects that add up, not sure I have mammoth ones though. :) Hope you get yours done like you want to.

I have a few as well. I wish I was talented enough to have more. :)

We are looking around to Spring around here. I should go out and weed the area I want to put strawberries while it is still dead and easy to pull up.
Blessings,
Dawn

What cute colorful socks!! I love them. Yes, I am excited about starting to garden again, but what am I thinking...more work? Yes, there are a lot of things I should be doing yet this winter...mainly scrapbooking...I need to stop wasting time and get a move on.

Yes...several. But most of them have to do with sewing. So getting motivated is really the key here.

The other projects have to be done by outside people, so I will not worry about those.

I really like those socks...this is a project, that even though it is not mammoth, it is an undertaking I have yet to take on. I started a sock and then it became a bit too much for me...but this summer, this will be my goal!

Lots of love sending your way Sweet Mary,

Maria

Such lovely bright socks!
Well, our painting and de-cluttering is the major project for us right now!
It must be exciting to be planning a new bathroom :-)
Your clock-timer idea sounds very good, Mary! Have a great weekend, my friend.

Your socks are lovely! I love the bright cheerful colors.
I am wishing for a bit more cold here so I can finish indoor jobs. I still need to finish our side attic. We got a great start on it but need to finish. Its a hard job and requires hauling stuff down stairs.
I also need to clean out the closet under the stairs...such an odd space that collects everything!
I use the 15 minute method on all my smaller jobs! It really helps me get it done.
Thanks for sharing on bread making! I am making bread today but probably in the machine as time is short. I have a house full over spring break so we will make bread from scratch then.
Have a lovely day!

Love those socks! Nothing mammoth here, really. Just lots of little things that when I think about them at the same time seem mammoth!

ps I ended up getting the Doodle Stitching motifs book! :-)

Mary,

Although I don't have any pressing mammoth projects calling my name, I do need to "get back on the horse" and get my house in order. I've been behind schedule for several weeks, and since "catch-up" is not possible, I simply need to take one day at a time.

Oh, I do have a Master bedroom closet that has been calling my name for several months now. However, I am not listening to it's "cries." :) Shame on me, I know!

Mary,
I love your socks! I think they are the cutest I've seen yet. I love those colors.

I can totally relate to mammoth projects. I have two of them - one is my basement, the other is a big walk in closet.

Gardening....I've been thinking about that too. I have all my seeds ready...which makes me remember that you know how to "save seeds". Did you ever post how to do that yet? I'm looking forward to your future posts on how your going to start your seeds.

Rachel tried your bread recipe that you posted. Yummy!
Love,
Antoinette

By coincidence I too am knitting socks just now. Yours are nice and bright. Spring cleaning will be my next task, I love the satisfaction of getting it done. Kathleen.

Mammoth jobs? Absolutely! I've got to finish the university application stuff for my oldest...and I was too sick to keep my records properly for most of that time....

And we really want to set up a sitting area in the basement for the older kids and their friends. That means dejunking even more (will anything be left??) and painting.

I could manage to get the big jobs done if it weren't for the everyday ones. LOL

I hope you get all your winter projects finished on time, so you can enjoy the spring rush.

Boy do I ever! And you're right! Fifteen to thirty minutes a day would get the job done.
