Simple Pleasures~ Knitting in the Round

>> Thursday, February 10, 2011

This week I took some yarn that I had hand dyed and then made a sweet gift ( a cowl) for a sweet friend. There is something so fun about knitting in the round. I added a bit of lace knitting to it but not too much because it would be lost in the texture of the yarn. I am very pleased how it turned out. I find when I have a lot on my mind and heart I tend to knit more. It is a very therapeutic way to sooth the nerves and mind. And a wonderful time to pray.

.....Simple Pleasures is to remind me to stop, to look, to listen, to slow down and pay closer attention to the simple things in life. And when ever I do, I am never disappointed.

Mary, it's beautiful! I just crocheted neckwarmers in the round for my boys. (My boys don't want to call them cowls!) They got tired of their scarves falling off and getting wet in the snow.

I'd not seen one of those before. Very nice and cozy looking. It is wonderful that you find peace while knitting.

I LOVE knitting in the round - do you knit socks? I'm not great but I do enjoy the round - hope your DIL is doing well.

Mary, how pretty! I wish I had one of those right now, indoors. I'm not cold, I'm not cold...!

A cowl. Hmmm...
I'm so fashion backward that I didn't know you could make such a thing. My daughters, both of whom love to wear scarves, would love this. I need to talk to their knitting Grandmother...

I wish that I had the gift of craftsmanship. You even died your own yarn, and what a beautiful color!

This is wonderful.

Mary, that's gorgeous! I love the colour you dyed your yarn and the pattern you chose.
I really like cowls as I'm a frog in winter and need my neck covered to stay warm.
What a crafty lady you are - and what a good friend! I'm sure lady who received this felt very blessed indeed!

I can see we have something in common which makes me a 'follower' instantly. I am a Momma of four boys myself. So, excited to read more about you and your family!

It's often the simple things in life that bring us the most joy.

Mary, your knitting is beautiful, and I agree. Working with my hands, with some kind of needle and thread, is pure relaxation.
