What A Friend We Have in Jesus

>> Sunday, February 6, 2011

The Lord woke me up this week with this song singing in my heart. I have had some sweet blogging sister's in Christ impacting me in being simple and drawing near our Lord. I have been laying down what is not important, my fears, praying more and just laying everything at His feet. I have been feeling so blessed and I can finally hear the whispers of the Lord again. It has been too long. It feels so good to lay all my doubts down at his feet and to ask Him to meet me at my unbelief. Yes, our Lord can take it and will come along side us and pick us up in His arms and love and minister to our souls in these times. Thank you Lord for who you are and for all your love despite our sinful nature.

  1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
    What a privilege to carry
    Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
    Everything to God in prayer!
  2. Have we trials and temptations?
    Is there trouble anywhere?
    We should never be discouraged—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
    Jesus knows our every weakness;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
  3. Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
    Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.
  4. Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised
    Thou wilt all our burdens bear;
May we ever, Lord, be bringing
All to Thee in earnest prayer.
    Soon in glory bright, unclouded,
There will be no need for prayer—
    Rapture, praise, and endless worship
Will be our sweet portion there.

Dear Mary,
Thank you for leaving me a sweet message last week. I really needed a week of to catch up with life, but still didn't catch up, the ice storm threw my plans out of the window some....I might take another small break again this week.
Oh how sweet it is when we finally see the oasis ahead of us in the desserts of life. yes, He is the only true friend we have.
Have a wonderful week.
(((hugs))

One of my favorite hymns!
I love the old hymns for the truths that they share.
We are to go about with songs of thanksgiving and praise in our hearts. Music really speaks to our souls.
Glad you are feeling closer to Him this day.

I love that song! A good one to have stuck in your head!
Yes dh is still doing school. He seems to enjoy it much.
The gals do have a CD out but not for sale yet and not on YouTube yet. It is wonderful to be blessed with such talent!
Please pray that we can get the insurance glitch settled before dd appointment on the 14th. It was canceled due to a paper trail error. Working on it now and trying to get them to expedite it today.

Mary,

"Take it too the Lord in Prayer." This statement sounds so obvious, so simple, so clear, yet, it's not always an easy thing to do. I'm still learning Mary, learning to take everything to the Lord in prayer.

I liked this song. It was very soothing, calming, and uplifting. :)

I love this rendition of a great hymn! I have always been convicted by the wisdom of these words:

Oh what peace we often forfeit,
Oh what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer.

Um, can we all say, "Amen" to that?!!

Love you, Mary!
