Responsibilities to my parents have been picking up here, as have ministry opps for friends (hosting and hospitality, which are my passions), and I've been away from blogland for a bit. I know you understand...

I so appreciate your thoughts here in this post, and know that feeling of just wanting to "be lost" in a really good book, and not worry so much about scheduling, and course lists, credits, etc. This last year has brought such HUGE changes to our homeschool...but I realize that it is because I am rapidly approaching the end of this amazing journey that God has been SO kind to allow me to take. My boys are not boys anymore. They're men now. Young men, in my 50 year old eyes, but not boys. And they are choosing their life-paths, and starting to make their way.

We still enjoy a read aloud here and there, and I treasure that! But life goes in chapters (seasons), and I always want to be open to turning that page to open the new and latest chapter, even though I've adored the one we've been in.

The blizzard is quite an experience...it's so dark now that I can't see much, but the wind has been howling and the snow is just coming in sideways. I don't even know how deep it really is because of all the drifting. Needless to say, we're not going ANYWHERE tomorrow!

I love and miss you...would love to call you soon to catch up!
{{{HUGS}}},
LoriIllinois Lorihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04823043316393624821noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7542921008329379756.post-15472585588408145322011-02-01T21:22:40.407-08:002011-02-01T21:22:40.407-08:00Sounds like things are going well. I hope you get going on the type of routine you want, that always helps. :)

JoAnnAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7542921008329379756.post-39805988369767414302011-02-01T20:36:32.048-08:002011-02-01T20:36:32.048-08:00Hi, Mary,

I'd probably be hard put to end it, too.

Even though I don't to CM per se, I love that approach, especially the nature study and appreciation part. Sounds like a perfect match with the outdoor life you're able to live.

God bless,
WendyWendyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12304381199351833218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7542921008329379756.post-90067180594078624392011-02-01T14:55:15.485-08:002011-02-01T14:55:15.485-08:00I love the organizer and will continue to use it, ...I love the organizer and will continue to use it, although like you mentioned I have veered away from wholeheartedly doing CM. I'm getting back though! I think I'm coming to the realization that I just have a blended style of homeschooling.

Blessings!
Sharity

ps I think you mentioned setting a timer when you take turns reading aloud with your son through the Little House books. Do you mind telling me how long you set your timer for?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08951654706039094830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7542921008329379756.post-9791877799761954542011-02-01T14:22:30.309-08:002011-02-01T14:22:30.309-08:00I'm going to check out that link. I'm not stressing about it at all, amazingly enough, and just enjoying the process. I'm glad you're enjoying the rhythym of it as well.

Just ordered another slew of books, and we're beginning anew and in earnest next week. It's been sooooo hard to get back to focused schooling, but we persevere. :)

Have a lovely afternoon!!
love,
Shani xxxShanihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12158892994417030606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7542921008329379756.post-66150277028737337252011-02-01T10:27:19.060-08:002011-02-01T10:27:19.060-08:00It always warms my mommy heart when my kids beg m...It always warms my mommy heart when my kids beg me to keep reading, which happens about once a week. You are on the right path for your boys. And I appreciate all the thoughtful comments you have left lately. Now I do CM, but in a very relaxed way, almost like un-schooling.

Praying that everything goes well... enjoy your precious moments with your boys.

M.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
