Simple Pleasures~ Comfort Foods

>> Thursday, February 3, 2011

In my previous post I was talking about my All In A Frump Day. And of course days like this a person tends to search out comfort foods. What is my comfort food? Cookies... and even better if it is chocolate chip cookies. Well to be exact it was Cinnamon Oatmeal Chocolate Chip cookies. I think just going through the motions of mixing and baking the cookies help with easing and sorting out my emotions. Having the simple pleasure of the process of making and enjoying ( a few) cookies on a frump of a day.

.....Simple Pleasures is to remind me to stop, to look, to listen, to slow down and pay closer attention to the simple things in life. And when ever I do, I am never disappointed.

Yummy! I was cookie baking last night. Just plain chocolate chip walnut cookies.

I'm glad you found some comfort on your frump day.

Blessings!

What delightful cookies. I wish I had two or three of those. Everyone around me has the flu and I need some chocolate to keep up my energy.

Cookies are a simple pleasure in and of themselves, but it is the BAKING of them that is my favorite part as well. I'm a marginal cook at best, but I love (LOVE) to bake cookies.

This one was great. Now, I'm going to HAVE to check out the frump day post. Frump is one of my favorite words.

This is so true dear one.

Baking has been such a solace for me lately...I pray that you enjoyed your treat and that your heart is at rest.

Hi,
I just love looking at those wonderful cookies and imagining what they must taste like - YUMMY! A cookie and a glass of milk would do just right for me now. A great Simple Pleasure for sure!

Mary, Sometimes it helps to just "go through the motions" of doing something simple--whether it's baking or cleaning, or grading papers. Sometimes that "mundaneness" helps ground our focus again. I'm glad it helped you!

Those cookies look scrumptious!

Cinnamon, oatmeal, chocolate chips. Doesn't get much better than that! Today, I'm home and snow is falling outside. It's on days like this I think about cooking - and and I agree comfort foods are a simple pleasure.

Blessings,
Joan

Wow - I have never heard of this combination, but it sounds DIVINE. (And they look just downright sinful.)

I agree - when it's cold, nothing warms me up inside and out like a batch of homemade cookies.

Love this, Mary. I think the process of cooking and baking is often overlooked as a simple pleasure in life, but I couldn't agree more. And then the results ... yum!

Great to see you at the party!

I love the thought of creating something -- a process that helps me sort out my emotions, just like you said.

Mary,

I find comfort in eating cookies too, which doesn't do much for my waistline, but at least they are enjoyable. :)

When I have "down days," I sometimes bake cookies, really. The joy of baking helps me to feel better. I'm going to make shortbread soon, yeah! :)
